Surat perintah penangkapan dan penahanan dilengkapi di sini, dan resmi hari ini kita melakukan penahanan," ujar Kabid Humas Polda Jatim Kombes Pol Frans Barung Mangera, di Kantor Humas Polda Jatim Jalan Ahmad Yani Surabaya, Kamis (26/4/2018).
Penahanan ini akan dilakukan selama 20 hari ke depan, hal ini sesuai dengan undang-undang yang berlaku. Kendati demikian, Polda Jatim masih melakukan penyelidikan terkait motif pelaku dalam melakukan penghinaan pada nabi.
"Motifnya sementara jelas melakukan penghinaan, dalam UU ITE jelas dia melakukan penghinaan," tambah Barung.
Sebelumnya, Rendra ditangkap di Trawas, Mojokerto. Penangkapan yang dipimpin langsung Kasat Reskrim Polres Mojokerto ini atas bantuan cyber patrol Polda Jatim. Awalnya cyber troops Polda Jatim melaporkan ke cyber crime untuk dilakukan penangkapan.
"Cyber troops Polda Jatim melaporkan pada cyber crime Polda Jatim untuk dilakukan penangkapan dan penegakan hukum kepada seseorang yang telah melakukan penghinaan pada nabi agama muslim," kata Barung.
Penangkapan ini tak hanya dilakukan oleh personel polisi saja, namun masyarakat turut andil. Banyak pula masyarakat yang ikut melaporkan hal ini dan dimana pelaku berada.
"Ada yang melaporkan kepada kami melalui inbox. Dari GP Ansor juga ada yang melaporkan," lanjut Barung.
Sebelumnya, tim dari Polda Jatim telah melakukan penggeledahan di rumah tersangka yang beralamat di Perumahan Taman Paris blok B no 33, Gedangan, Sidoarjo. Namun tersangka tidak ada di rumah tersebut.
